My not so mini album

So this album has been in the works for about three years. I started it, and stopped, and came back to it quite a few times. But it’s finally done! I’m not sure why I call any of my mini albums mini. This one is huge! 159 photos, 18 envelopes, 12 back to back pages. And at 12×8 it’s in no way mini.

I have a few set styles of pages. Type one has a flip out and thee pockets.

Then the long page with a pocket at the bottom, and three envelopes at the other side. Each envelope had a photo mat inside.

Then a style with a band to hold loose photo mats.

There are a few other versions.

I’m just so relieved to get this of my to do list. Now I just have to finish the other seven or nine minis I have almost done!

Two new chalange layouts

pixelscrapper.com has some new chalanges up in the forums One for using a calendar in a layout and one for useing a large photo. I got both of these scrapped up. WHile the calendar one was a little time consuming I really love it I used a template from pixel scrapper and simple clipped screenshots of my facebook posts into the daily squares. You can see my other post where I talk more about getting my facebook statuses into my layouts. then added a few square journal cards to blank spaces. I used the january storyteller kit from the lilypad to bring this layout together.

The sledding layout was fast, like super fast, since the photo was large it just needed some layers and embellishments.

No photos challenge layout

This is another great challenge from the pixelscrapper. I usually have a tun of issues with layouts with no photots. but for this challenge i decided to go the art journaling route. I really like it and i always print these out glue them into my journal and then embellish and paint over them. Add borders, glitter, and the like. I used the epic kit from, you guessed it, pixel scrapper called create something.

Making valentines layout

This year instead of spending a mint on the same old valentine’s i saw this cute idea in a layout for project life on ali edwards webpage. Plus i had a ton of cheap photo papers left over. the print quality was crappy with these papers, but i guess you get what you pay for. Plus my printer likes to print dark photos. But they would work well enough for valentines. So i posed the girls and then after i printed out enough i went in and punched a hole with my cropodile and just slid the suckers in. was easier than writing out a ton of valentines since we didn’t address them to anyone.

For this layout i used the original photos of the girls and took a photo of the sucker and used teh magic wand to outline it and cut if from it’s background. Then i slid it over the girl’s photos and after some fiddling got it positioned and sized. Then i simple erased where their hands are. That way i got the look of the original valentines without the bulk. Plus i took a photo of the wrapper for an accent piece and used the same technique.
