March pixel scrapper blog train freebie

So i’m trying out my hand at designing. Starting small of course. I wanted to join the pixel scrapper blog train this month. Just a way to get my feet wet. I designed this great pink vellum alphabet to go with the colors chosen this month. here’s a peek at the colors for this month’s blog train.

Two new challenges from pixel scrapper

There are two new challenges up in the forums. One is for using a selfie as your photo the other is for using the “wrong” kit for a photos, Like using christmas kit for a summer layout etc. For the selfie challenge i used a photo i made from one of those silly like mirror apps. I love fooling around with all those great filer and effect apps. I mean they are free and just so much fun. I also used the dia de los muertos kit that was on sale for sosn on the lilypad. I love this kit so much. It has so many fun elements and i love skulls so it was a must buy for me.

The second chalange i used an older photo from christmas that i loved but didn’t get scrapped because it didn’t fit into my chirstmas pages anywhere so instead of christmas paper i used this wonderful bright pink paper elements from the scrumptiously bright day kit from pixel scrapper. i also used a bit from the brighten up kit as well. both of these kits are so fun and well bright lol. I love mixing and matching for different kits.

Week 8 project life

This week i have a few photots and a lot more journaling than normal. journaling is always one of the things I struggle with. Luckly a 3×4 card only needs a few sentences to be full. Since I didn’t take too many candid shots I went looking for a few I could add. Like the ones of the girls favorite toys right now. I used this template as the base for this weeks layout these are by far my favorite pl templates. there a few set over at pixel scrapper to boot!

Week 7 in pockets

This week’s project life layout I had enough photos to do a full 2 page layout. I used the hunter ready set go template.  I jsut love these templates. I do move stuff and add or subtract items but they are a great easy starting off point for each week. Takes a lot of the time out of sorting and setting up layouts. This one was for january and i did do a bit of rearranging to make it work but i really liked how it turned out! I’ve been working on getting more of the simple day to day things that seem to slip under the radar. Doing the daily photo prompt in my project life group has helped me a lot for getting great ideas of photos. Plus I have been carrying my phone with me almost 24/7 and just randomly taking photos I don;t use them all but it does help me find some gems i wouldn’t have taken originally. I also set up a timer on my phone in a to do app. where at a certain time every day an alarm reminds me to take a picture. I set different times for each day of the week. I make sure to drop whatever i’m doing and find something to photograph. It has really opened up a whole new world of things to document. like the toys my girls are playing with, things they are doing, even just day to day chores.

My not so mini album

So this album has been in the works for about three years. I started it, and stopped, and came back to it quite a few times. But it’s finally done! I’m not sure why I call any of my mini albums mini. This one is huge! 159 photos, 18 envelopes, 12 back to back pages. And at 12×8 it’s in no way mini.

I have a few set styles of pages. Type one has a flip out and thee pockets.

Then the long page with a pocket at the bottom, and three envelopes at the other side. Each envelope had a photo mat inside.

Then a style with a band to hold loose photo mats.

There are a few other versions.

I’m just so relieved to get this of my to do list. Now I just have to finish the other seven or nine minis I have almost done!
